Aino Health Desk (HD) has been providing 24/7 telephone service for self notification of short term absences for Aino’s work ability management system clients for 10 years. As part of the service we also consult our clients how to set up self notification practices. When Health Desk started in April 2013, the team consisted of three professionals, and they began by serving a single client, Konecranes. Today, we are proud to report that Konecranes is still one of our valued clients.

In the health phone, an assessment is made as to whether an occupational health doctor or nurse is needed in the situation. In celebration of our 10th anniversary, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on our journey and highlight some of the key features that make Aino Health Desk a unique and valuable service provider. 

The world has changed significantly over the past decade, and so has the health care landscape. In the early days of Health Desk, our primary focus and root causes for short absences were flu-related calls. Currently root causes for short term absences can be a variety of challenges with immediate social environment, stressed out young families or office workers, challenges with sleep or excess of work or motivational challenges. We are proud to be Finland’s first private health telephone service provider for companies, and from the start, our goal has been to develop and enhance our services in line with our clients’ evolving needs. However, over time, the service has expanded and currently we also offer health advice for example for musculoskeletal issues, mental well-being, and lifestyle advice. 

One of the benefits of our service is that it helps our clients to reduce the number of visits to occupational health care and reduce short term absences, resulting in cost savings for companies. Reaction time for early support has also been reduced due to on time information about short term absences. This also results with better use of professional health care resources especially in current situation when there is lack of health care professionals in all Europe.  Our services also help ease the burden for line managers by handling short term absence notifications and related conversations, which can be difficult to organize in shift work. Health Desk is also directly linked to Aino’s early support processes and managers are notified automatically when there is need for early support. Our approach is friendly, fair, and compassionate, and we are committed to helping our clients to succeed.

The implementation of HealthDesk a few years ago went very smoothly. It was a positive surprise for us how you get an accurate and good analysis of the use of the HealthDesk service. Reviewing these reports regularly at quarterly meetings gives us good added value. I can use the material received from you in cooperation with trustees. 

The cooperation has been smooth the whole time and we survived the Corona era together wonderfully. Especially during Corona, we have been able to flexibly update the instructions. 

We also have registration for children’s diseases as a service, I think we were the first company to do so. We have been following its operation with interest, and this service makes the situation easier for parents and children. HelthDesk combined with Aino Health Manager is an absolutely great package. There has been no need to regret the purchase. The overall picture of absences is completely different than in previous years
